New look Rebels are developing a solid team culture in the 2018 season

The Rebels 2018 Super Rugby season has begun and is looking like an exciting time for the club after a challenging 2017 season both on and off the field.

As a foundation sponsor, the Massey Ferguson brand has enjoyed an eight year association with the Rebels over some highs and lows, and shares in the anticipation regarding the 2018 season with the new look Rebels team.

The first 2018 outing for the Rebels at their home ground in Melbourne saw 12 players make their club debuts, with new Head Coach Dave Wessels keen to foster a solid team culture and challenge his players to strive for success.

Commenting on , Wessels promoted his desire for the Rebels to be consistently competitive.

“I want to see the players who understand that we need to get better, so I want to see that application in training”, Wessels said.

Rebel’s forward coach Joe Bakarat also emphasises the club’s focus on developing new values and cultures amongst the playing group. In order for the club to move forward and improve in 2018, a strong physical culture needed to be the foundation of the team.

"Building a culture behind [us] - that is an important part of our step forward and making something special down here at Melbourne. The culture is good, the culture is thriving and the rugby, we just can’t wait”, says Bakarat

The positive attitude of the Rebels squad was on show during a recent training session at their Melbourne base where the players were keen for a photo with a Massey Ferguson MF 5711 SL.

With 2017 being a tough year at the Rebels, it is promising to see a renewed sense of aspiration and professionalism at the club. Warwick McCormick, AGCO Vice President & Managing Director - Australia, New Zealand & Far East, said he was pleased to see a strong commitment from the players and new coach, and is looking forward to seeing that thriving culture make its impact on the field.

“We have been with the Rebels over the journey and it is great to see a team that is invigorated and looking at the opportunities ahead in the 2018 season, and keen to step up and build a solid culture around the club“, Warwick said.

Massey Ferguson is looking forward to a great season supporting the Melbourne Rebels.
